President Muhammadu Buhari, who has been busy probing the administration before his, the Ondo State governor-elect, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu, believes it is needless investigating past administrations.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, who disagrees with President Buhari, his party member on the issue of probe, said “he does not
believe in probe” because “government is a continuum”. According to him, the people of Ondo State elected him to govern and not to probe past administrations.“I don’t believe in probes. What I believe in is that I’ve been given a mandate to govern the state and when I come into office I will face the task. “The past is the past and I am one person who believes that government is a continuum”, he stated. He therefore promised to face the task of governance and not involve himself in activities the people did not vote him in for.
The Ondo State governor-elect’s position may have rested fears and insinuations held by many after his emergence as winner of the Saturday November 26 governorship election in Ondo State, that he was going to probe the activities of the outgoing administration of Governor Olusegun Mimiko.
Akeredolu polled 244,842 votes to beat his closest rival, Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 150, 380 votes, while Mr Olusola Oke of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) followed with 126, 889 votes. He said, “What was beyond my imagination was the magnitude, the number of votes we scored vis-a-vis what two other contestants scored. I never believed that the margin would be that wide.
